1. How do I know which shoe to choose?

The interaction between your feet and your shoes makes the best trainer a very personal choice. Everybody has their own running style and the way you place your feet on the floor can make all the difference to your shoe needs.  Look at your wet footprints to find your foot type:

(from left to right) Normal, Flat and High Arched footprints. Flat Feet tend to over-pronate, while High Arches can mean supination.

2. How long will my trainers last?

There are many factors to consider including mileage, weight, running surface and quality of trainer.  With average use, trainers should be changed every 12 to 15 months.  Telltale signs of wear include permanent creases in the midsole and excessive wear on the outsole. Don't be tempted to run in general leisure shoes not designed for running, and try not to use your running shoes for other activities.

3. Why have I got aches and pains in my ankles/knees/hips etc?

Either a more supportive pair of trainers is required, the cushioning in your current trainers has become compressed or your training programme needs to be reassessed.

4. I use Orthotics - what is the best shoe for me?

An Orthotic is tailor made to correct your gait.  A good neutral shoe with a removable insole is required.
